Project Overview

Warrnambool AquaZone Aquatic centre boasts 3 state of the art indoor pools including an 8 lane 25m pool, program pool and leisure pool with ‘beach entry’, and a heated outdoor seasonal 50m pool.

There has been a centre for swimming on this site since the 1960’s when the pools were outdoors and patrons had to run the gauntlet with exposure to high levels of ultraviolet rays. Nowadays you have the option of the indoor pools along with other facilities undercover. The new centre was built early this century and remains Warrnambool’s only aquatic leisure and recreation centre and is the major indoor community aquatic and leisure facility in South West Victoria.

Outdoors you’ll still find a 50 metre olympic sized swimming pool for lanes and other facilities that the serious swimmer would expect to find, however, the diving pool has been closed because it isn’t deep enough to pass today’s safety regulations. The indoor area houses a fully equipped gymnasium, boxing studio and more pools and aquatic attractions.

Various measures have been put in place recently to improve on energy efficiency and environmental impact, including upgrading the air handling systems to more efficient models, installing LED Lights throughout, installing pool pumps with energy efficient variable speed drives and upgrading the heating system to our condensing boilers to use less energy to heat the water. Dirt and air separators have also been installed to extend the operational lifespan of the system.
